The Elections Commission has published the final list of people eligible to vote in the presidential election.
The list published on the commission’s website includes the list of voters in Male’ City, Addu City, the atolls, industrial zones, abroad, prisons, people of other islands residing in Vilingili and Hulhumale’, and resorts.
President of Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeg told Sun that today’s list was published after making revisions to the voters list that was gazetted earlier.
He said that no changes can be made to the list published today.
“After gazetting the voters’ list, we gave the opportunity to file complaints. The final list has been published after checking the complaints and making the necessary revisions. If the name of a person who is eligible to vote is not included on this list, that person will no longer have that opportunity. But if a complaint is filed in relation to this list, we will look into it and reply,” he said.
Fuad said that efforts are under way to send the final list to presidential candidates.
The commission published the final list after allowing time to file complaints to the eligible voters and re-registration lists.
