Ahmed Rasheed rebuts reports that he

Isdhoo MP Ahmed Rasheed has rebutted the announcement by Mohamed Ikram at a rally of the Jumhooree Party (JP) last night, that he had joined JP.

Ahmed Rasheed told Sun today that he accepted a request by JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim that came through Umar Naseer, to recite Quran at the JP rally last night; but him reciting Quran at the rally was interpreted differently by Ikram who announced that he had joined JP.

He said that he is a ‘true member’ of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Ahmed Rasheed said that he believes that JP, PPM and President Waheed’s Forward with the Coalition are one and the same, and that he would oblige if any of these groups ask him to recite the Quran.

He expressed sadness over the fact that Ikram took advantage of something he did with good intentions, and said that the media should also have verified the information before reporting the news.

While introducing the function by JP last night, Ikram said that Ahmed Rasheed had joined the party.
