Meeting begins in Gaafu Alifu atoll regarding crime prevention

A meeting is under way in Gaafu Alifu atoll between magistrates in collaboration with the police, regarding reduction of crime in the atoll.

Administrative Officer of Gaafu Alifu Atoll Court Amjad Rashad said that the meeting, which commenced yesterday in Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo, will go on for three days.

The purpose of the meeting is the share information on problems faced by the judiciary due to the police and vice versa, in order to find solutions to those problems.

Discussions will also be held during the meeting regarding the challenges faced by courts in ensuring justice to the people, said Amjad Rashad.

The meeting, which was first held in 2011 and now conducted yearly, is attended by all the magistrates of Gaafu Alifu atoll.

It is also attended this year by Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed and Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Didi.
