More than 10,000 higher education opportunities will be facilitated in President Waheed

Minister of Education Dr Asim Ahmed has said that if President Dr Mohamed Waheed gets elected for a second term, higher education opportunities will be facilitated for more than 10,000 students.

Speaking after the ceremony held to inaugurate the University Education Fair by Glonet today, Dr Asim said that the main challenge faced by school-leavers who want to go for higher education, is financial constraints.

“He has said that if he gets elected as president for the next five years, he would facilitate even more opportunities for higher education. Our aim is to provide loans to more than 10,000 students,” he said.

Dr Asim said that hundreds of higher-education opportunities have been facilitated over the past one year, and more than 900 loan opportunities will be facilitated in the coming year.

He also said that if President Waheed is elected, a scheme will be introduced to encourage research by university teachers.
