The police have arrested one more suspect four weeks after Ahmed Nizar, 31, was murdered while traveling on a motorcycle in Laamu Gan.
Ahmed Nizar of Woodland, Thundi, Laamu Gan, was murdered on the night of 14 July.
The suspect arrested last Saturday under a court warrant is below the age of 17.
Five people have been arrested so far in relation to this murder. A 21-year-old was arrested on 15 July, a 22-year-old on 17 July, and 26 and 22-year-olds on 19 July.
The court has given detention periods of 15 days for all the suspects, and they have now been taken to Male’ for the investigation by the police.
The assault took place in Gan Mukurimagu ward while four people, including Ahmed Nizar, were returning to Gan after travelling by motorcycle to Laamu Kadhdhoo post office, where they had collected a package.
Police said that they suspect the assailants used wooden planks and iron rods to attack. The materials were discovered near the body, police said.
