President Dr Mohamed Waheed has inaugurated the road construction project in Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo.
Speaking at the ceremony held in Kudahuvadhoo this afternoon, the president said that the government now gives great priority to the construction of roads in as many islands as possible. He said that roads of better standard than ever constructed before in the Maldives will be completed at a fast speed under this project.
President Waheed went on to say that under this project, by the beginning of next year, approximately 50 km of road will be constructed in six islands, and a 16-km road will be completed with the assistance of the government of China in Hadhdhummathi Gan.
He also assured the people of Kudahuvadhoo that the government would not hesitate in its efforts to carry out and complete the development projects planned for the island.
After the inauguration ceremony, the president visited the housing units being constructed for the people of Vaanee who were transferred to Kudahuvadhoo following the tsunami.
