Islamic Ministry to distribute Zakat money today and tomorrow

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that they will distribute Zakat al-Fitr funds today and tomorrow, at a rate of MVR 205 per head.

Islamic Ministry said that Zakat money distribution will start from 1:00 p.m. today and tomorrow and that, those registered as poor in Male’ and Vilimale’ shall receive their charity money from Islamic Centre main hall. Similarly, Zakat money for those registered in Hulhumale’ will be distributed from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) office, they said.

The Ministry said that the money left unclaimed will be distributed to those identified as in need of basic necessities.

Islamic Ministry said last Saturday that they received more than MVR 2 million as Zakat al-Fitr during Ramadan this year.

They advise those registered to claim their share as soon as possible, as Islamic law requires the money to be fully distributed before Eid Prayers, which is to take place on coming Thursday this year.
