President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has appointed Ahmed Mujtaba, G. Bodufenvalhuge, as the Chief Coordinator of his new Roadmap for political reform in the country.
Mujtaba served in the Cabinet during the presidency of Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom, and also served as the President of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives at one time.
Mujtaba was appointed as Chief Coordinator of the political reform Roadman during a meeting held yesterday at the President’s Office, in which the President discussed the matter with leaders of all political parties.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed’s Maldivian Democratic Party was also invited to the meeting, although the party did not participate in it. MDP did not inform the reason for their decision either.
Participants of the meeting also agreed to send a letter to MDP to request their view on the appointment of Mujtaba as Chief Coordinator of the Roadmap as well.
