Adhaalath Party has called on relevant institutions to expedite the investigation of the sex video involving Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed.
Ali Abdul Mannaan, who was appointed as the party’s chief spokesperson today, while speaking at a press conference held by Adhaalath Party, expressed concern over these allegations against a judge in the highest court of the Maldives.
“At this point, I don’t wish to comment on the matter. It is being investigated by the relevant institutions. But I would like to say that we are deeply concerned that a judge in the highest court of the Maldives is being accused of such activities. So we call on the relevant institutions to expedite the investigation and complete it as soon as possible,” he said.
He said that Adhaalath Party would respect and accept the decisions made by the relevant institutions upon completion of this investigation.
Speaking at today’s press conference, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Shaheem Ali Saaeed said that Adhaalath Party would fully cooperate with the government despite its decision to leave President Waheed’s coalition.
He also called on all political parties included in the government coalition to refrain from any activity that might interfere with the smooth-running of the government.
Shaheem said that Adhaalath Party’s sole aim is to prevent former President Mohamed Nasheed from returning to power, and that the party would do everything possible to ensure this.
It was announced at today’s press conference that Ali Abdul Mannaan had replaced Shaheem as the party’s chief spokesperson, and that Shaheem had been appointed as the person responsible for the party’s foreign affairs.
