Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has proposed to remove Imad Solih from the post of Minister of State for Education.
A government official told Sun Online today that ‘such an issue has been proposed’.
Imad Solih is currently occupying a slot given to DRP.
Sun Online has come to know that the request to remove Imad Solih was made by President Dr Mohamed Waheed’s running mate Ahmed Thasmeen Ali.
Imad Solih was a member of President Waheed’s Forward with the Nation coalition when Qaumee Party was part of the coalition.
However after Qaumee Party decided to leave this coalition and join Jumhooree Party, Imad Solih has been working with Gasim Ibrahim’s Jumhooree Gulhun coalition.
An official of Qaumee Party said that even though Imad Solih is occupying a slot of DRP, several slots of Qaumee Party remain vacant, including political posts in the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development. He said that this should not result in any problem.
Representatives of Qaumee Party in the government, Minister of State for Economic Development Abdullah Ameen and Deputy Minister of Tourism Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, have been dismissed after they defected to other parties.
