Jumhoory Party presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim has filed his candidacy papers at the Election Commission to compete in the upcoming presidential elections.
Gasim’s candidacy forms for the September 7th elections were accepted at the Elections Commission today by the Commission’s president Fuad Thaufeeq.
At the meeting that followed, Elections Commission and leaders of Jumhoory Party discussed matters of preparation for the elections, particularly on the process of re-registrating of voters.
During the press session, Gasim Ibrahim said that they will announce JP’s party manifesto within the next two weeks.
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Mohamed Nasheed and independent candidate, president Mohamed Waheed have also filed their candidacies with the Elections Commission. Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) candidate Abdulla Yameen is scheduled submit his forms this afternoon.
