Prosecutor General’s Office has appealed in High Court, the extension of detention of Ahmed Saleem (Maaz Saleem), council member of the Progressive Party of Maldives who was recently arrested for assault and released by the Criminal Court.
An official from the High Court told Sun that the case was appealed by the Prosecutor General’s Office and that a hearing has been scheduled for tomorrow.
Police accused Maaz Saleem and four others of assaulting an airport ferryboat captain after accusing him of him of stealing Saleem’s iPad.
Criminal Court had released Saleem but extended the detention periods of the five remaining people, police said.
