Reports indicate Gasim to pick Dr. Hassan Saeed as running mate

Reports have started indicate that Jumhoory Party’s presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim is to pick Dhivehi Qaumee Party Leader and President’s Political Advisor Dr. Hassan Saeed as his running mate for upcoming September elections.

A person speaking on condition of anonymity told Sun that Gasim has made the decision last night. Dr. Hassan Saeed and DQP have both declined to confirm the reports.

Sun has come to know that Gasim’s primary consideration in choosing Dr. Saeed is his success in the 2008 presidential election.

Speaking at Jumhoory Party’s congress last night, the party’s Vice President and Parliamentary Group Leader Ilham Ahmed said that the party will announce its vice presidential candidate tonight (18th July).

Gasim Ibrahim and his Jumhoory Party is the only party left to announce a vice presidential candidate.
