Barcelona's Neymar, Alba undergo tonsil surgery

BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Barcelona says Brazil striker Neymar and Spain defender Jordi Alba have both undergone surgery on their tonsils.

The Spanish club says the players will be sidelined for 10 days while they recover after having procedures to treat "the recurring problems of tonsillitis they both had had during recent weeks."

Neymar underwent surgery in Rio de Janeiro, while Alba was operated on near Barcelona.

After joining Barcelona last month, Neymar could make his debut in Barcelona's first friendly of the offseason in Poland on July 17. He will then face former club Santos in a friendly at Camp Nou on Aug. 2.
