Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced the construction of a new school in Hulhumale’, under a project worth MVR 104 million.
The project was handed over to Ameen Construction, to be completed within a 15-month period.
The project agreement was signed at a ceremony held in HDC office today.
HDC’s Managing Director Suhail Ahmed and Ameen Construction's Managing Director Abdulla Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of the respective parties.
Speaking after the signing, Suhail Ahmed said that the school will accommodate grades from 1 to 12, will include 44 classrooms with total capacity of 1300 students.
“This school we’ve handed over to Ameen Construction will be built on 46,000 square feet of land. An open space area of 1800 square feet will still be available when the construction is complete. The school will have 44 classrooms, each classroom with space for 30 students, which means the school can accommodate 1300 students. The school will be conducted in a single session. Through planning, we've decided the school to be completed within 15 month’s time. The total cost of the project is MVR 104 million,” Suhail said.
He said that the school will be 6 storeys high and will include two elevators, along with all the necessary equipment that modern education demands.
The signing of agreement ceremony was officiated by Education Minister Dr. Asim Ahmed. In his remarks, he noted that the new school will be of great ease for the families that settle down in Hulhumale'.
HDC’s Managing Director stated that all costs for the project will be bared by the corporation.
