Cases of Reynis Saleem and Azlif Raoof forwarded for prosecution

Police have forwarded a case to the Prosecutor General’s Office involving former Judicial Service Commission member Mohamed Saleem (Reynis Saleem), Alif Raoof and three others, accusing them of forcibly confiscating a motorbike as a means of intimidation.

Azlif Raoof, H. Hilton, is suspected of being involved in the planning of the murder of parliamentarian Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

Police have revealed the identities of the other three men as Mohamed Hamid, 26, Iraak, Meedhoo, Addu City, Abdulla Saeed, 29, Autumn Vaadhoo, Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo and Abdulla Unais, 42, G. Moonlight, Male’.

Police said that all five men have been accused of using intimidation tactics, mainly as a means to collect debts where they had on one occasion, confiscated a motorcycle that belonged to two men to force them to pay a debt, forcing them to enter into their office against their will and damaging the property inside the office as means of intimidation.

Police said that the case was forwarded to the PG on 26th of this month.

Standing in front of the police headquarters after being summoned for questioning regarding the case, Reynis Saleem told the media that the police had asked him if he had employed a gang to collect debts. He said that he had denied all such allegations and had told the police that he is a man who would seek the courts to resolve all his debts.

Reynis Saleem sat the JSC as the representative of the President. President Waheed had dismissed Saleem from JSC after the police decided that they would forward his case for prosecution.
