Local entrepreneur Ahmed Saeed (Golden Lane Saeed) has chosen to remain silent after being summoned to the police for a second time to answer for allegations of trying to use a video involving a sitting judge for blackmail.
After spending a hour inside the police station today, Ahmed Saeed and his lawyer Noorban Fahmy spoke the press in front of the headquarters. Noorban Fahmy said that Ahmed Saeed was forced to exercise his right to remain silent, as the police have refused to give them any information regarding the case.
Noorban said that Ahmed Saeed was also summoned to the police station last Thursday, where he was questioned from 9:30 pm till 2:00 am, without the presence of an attorney.
Noorban Fahmy said that the police said that Ahmed Saeed appears in the video, an allegation he denies. She accused the police of trying to coerce Ahmed Saeed into a confession on Thursday night.
Police media official denied any attempts by the police to try and coerce Ahmed Saeed. He said that Ahmed Saeed was summoned and questioned on Thursday night in a “friendly atmosphere.” They had only asked if he had any information regarding the case, the official said
Ahmed Faiz, former Project Advisor of Housing Ministry was arrested on Wednesday night and dismissed from his post on Thursday, following allegations of trying to sell the video. The Criminal Court has allowed a 15-day detention period to hold Faiz under arrest.
