A child that sought treatment from Gaafu Alif Dhevvadhoo Health Centre has been treated with an expired Intravenous drip.
Ahmed Suood, father of the four year old boy Mohamed Alhan Ahmed Suood, said that his son was put on the IV drip at 10:00 pm last night and that they came to realize that it was an expired bottle around 8:00 am this morning.
“I took him to the health centre last night because he was having this flue that is going around. We came to realize this morning, that the IV was expired,” Ahmed Suood said.
He said that his son’s condition is not too serious, although he has now been transported to Thinadhoo Hospital to seek reliable treatment.
President of Dhevvadhoo Council Ahmed Zahir also confirmed the incident. He said that the IV bottle in question was three month’s past its expiration date.
