Female diver dies after hitting boat's propeller

A female diver at Four Seasons Kudahura resort died today after being hit by a boat's propeller.

Sun has received confirmation of the incident from the police.

A member of the Fuvahmulaku Council informed Sun that the girl has been identified as Aishath Shafa, 26, Fehigiri, Fuvahmulah.

Sun is aware that the girl was on a diving expedition along with tourists and was swimming in the sea when she was hit by the propeller of a Four Seasons boat, that was also in the area on a diving expedition. The girl is reported to have received injuries to her head and face.

A police media official said that the incident was reported around 3:20pm and that a police team from Hinmafushi police station was dispatched to the scene. The team has now brought the girl’s body to Male’ and has taken her to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where the doctors confirmed that she was already dead when she reached the hospital.

Four Seasons has not commented on the incident.
