Aasandha services are provided differently to people in the atolls: Gasim

Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim has said that there are differences between the Aasandha services received by people in Male’ and the Aasandha services received by people in the atolls.

Gasim said this while speaking at a JP rally held in Gaafu Alifu Villingili last night.

The JP Presidential Candidate however did not indicate any details of the differences between Aasandha services in Male’ and Aasandha services in the atolls.

He said that a JP government would work towards strengthening Aasandha and eliminating those differences, and make arrangements to facilitate Aasandha services in every country that has a Maldivian Embassy.

Speaking during this campaign rally for the 7 September presidential election, Gasim said that the State had not been able to establish pharmacies in some islands, despite efforts by the people of those islands to fulfil the need to build and operate pharmacies in those islands. He said that a JP government would ensure that this is achieved.

In response to a question posed by Sun Online regarding Gasim’s remarks, Chairman of Aasandha Company Thorig Ali Luthfy said that Aasandha services may differ in Male’ and the islands depending on the facility at the respective location.

He said that there would be no other difference, and noted that Aasandha is not a service provider. He said that it had been decided to start several outreach programs under agreements with foreign hospitals, which would facilitate the expansion of Aasandha services in the atolls.
