Chief Judge of High Court Ahmed Shareef has filed a second case in Civil Court against Judicial Service Commission (JSC), contesting his indefinite suspension.
Husnu Al Suood, defence lawyer for the Chief Judge, said that the new case was submitted earlier this week and that they have asked the court for an injunction, similar to the earlier case, which was later terminated by the court.
Suood said that injunction asks for a halt on further administrative action against the Chief Judge until the Civil Court decides on the case. The court had granted the injunction requested for the earlier case.
Civil Court terminated the case submitted earlier, saying that Husnu Al Suood failed to attend court without a credible reason.
JSC suspended Judge Ahmed Shareef following several complaints filed by seven judges of High Court regarding the management of High Court, in May 2012.
