Tourist arrivals in Maldives increase by 25 percent last month

Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has shown that there has been a 25 percent increase in tourist arrivals in the Maldives during the month of May.

The numbers show that a total of 79,426 tourists arrived in May this year, compared to a total of 63,534 arrivals in May 2012

The Ministry revealed that the total number of arrivals up until May this year stands at 463,174 tourists, a 16 percent increase compared to the same period of last year.

The most number of tourists came from China last month, a total of 23,613 arrivals, a 46 percent increase compared to May 2012.

The second most number of tourists last month was seen from Germany, a total of 8,812 arrivals. However, the arrivals from Germany have dropped by 9 percent compared to May 2012.
