The police have sent a case to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office, against one of the people on a motorcycle involved in an accident that took place on Buruzu Magu in May 2013. A young girl involved in the accident died while being treated for serious injuries in Sri Lanka.
The police have requested to press charges against Ahmed Gassaam, 27, of Reydhuvaage in Lhaviyani Naifaru, in relation to the death of Aishath Anwar, 27, of Sun Ray in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, who was on the backseat of one of the motorcycles involved in the accident.
The accident took place at around midnight on the night of 5 May 2013 while she was on her way home with her husband after work, when she was thrown from her motorcycle upon collision with another motorcycle which turned into Buruzu Magu near Male’ Medical.
According to her family, the doctors in Sri Lanka said when she was taken to the hospital there that it was already too late to save her, and she died after a head operation in Sri Lanka. Her family said that she did not receive proper medical treatment at IGMH before she was taken to Sri Lanka.
