The Criminal Court has given 15 additional days as detention for Azlif Raoof of H. Hilton. Azlif has been accused of being involved in the planning of the murder of religious scholar, former Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali.
Azlif served Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) as a corporal, but was dismissed following these suspicions.
Media Official of Criminal Court Ahmed Mohamed Manik said that the court extended Azlif’s detention period this afternoon.
Azlif was arrested by the police on suspicion of terrorism, inciting fear, leading and carrying out gang activities and conducting criminal activities through gangs.
A statement given by Humaam, another suspect, to the Criminal Court states that Azlif was involved in planning Dr Afrasheem’s murder. Humaam said that that Azlif is a key member of Kudahenveyru Group who is also involved in drug trafficking and bribing youths to carry out criminal activities.
Passports have been withheld under court warrants of Hulhu-Henveyru MP Reeko Moosa Manik’s son-in-law Abdullah Javid, Shaheen Mohamed and Adam Solah (Spy), who are also suspects in the murder of Dr Afrasheem.
