British High Commissioner meets Maldives Police Commissioner

British High Commissioner for the Maldives Mr. John Rankin has today met the Maldives’ Commissioner of Police Abdullah Riyaz. The meeting was held at the Headquarters of the Maldives Police Service on Thursday.

The two officials discussed about the current situation in the Maldives, and the Commissioner of Police briefed the English High Commissioner on the unrest that is ongoing in the country and the steps being taken by the police to establish order and peace.

British High Commissioner said that the Maldives Police Service had had close relations and cooperation with his country, and that he hoped the strengthening of the relations and cooperation. He also assured the Commissioner of Police that Britain would extend all cooperation towards the Maldives police in handling the situation in the country now.

Commissioner of Police also assured the British High Commissioner that the Maldives police were working responsibly and diligently, on a very busy schedule, in attending the current circumstances prevailing in the Maldives.
