MMA warns public to be mindful of MVR 100 and MVR 500 counterfeits

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has advised the public to be mindful of counterfeits of MVR 100 and MVR 500 notes.

MMA said that the counterfeits notes are bad in quality and that the paper from which they are made are quite different and lacks the quality of the original.

“We advice any suspicious notes be brought to this authority and their authenticity verified,” a statement released by MMA stated.

The authority advised the public to always compare MVR 100 and MVR 500 notes with an authentic pair before accepting them.

Their statement also requested the public to contact them through 333 1793 to further clarify information regarding the counterfeits.
