Parents of the students of Lale Youth International School located in Hulhumale’ have met with Vice President Mohamed Waheed Deen.
This has been confirmed by the President’s Office.
The parents of Lale School students also delivered a petition and met with Education Minister last week, requesting the government to extend the contract with the company commissioned to operate the school, following the expiry of the current contract. They have expressed concerns over efforts to open a bidding process to find a new party to operate the school.
The parents shared their concerns with Vice President Waheed Deen at a meeting held at President’s Office this afternoon. The meeting was attended by about 30 parents.
The parents told Sun Online today that they went to the President’s Office to explain their concerns regarding reports of efforts to open a bidding process to find a new party to operate Lale School. They said that they are happy with the manner in which the school is operated presently, and thus want the same company to continue operating the school.
The Turkish company that operates Lale International School in collaboration with Biz Atolls Maldives operates similar schools in over 170 countries in the world. The government has extended the five-year agreement with the company until the end of the year, after it expired on 25 May.
