Attorney General Aishath Bisam has said that former Attorney General Azim Shakoor had written to Judicial Service Commission (JSC) conveying her opinion that the Mohamed Fahmy Hassan cannot represent the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and sit in the Judicial Service Commission as the President of CSC.
Speaking at a parliament committee last night, Attorney General Bisam said that the former Attorney General Azima Shakoor had clearly communicated the message to JSC.
“In an answer to a question by the media, I have stated that I believe former Attorney General Azima Shakoor’s opinion as true (that Fahmy cannot continue as the president of CSC). The former Attorney General had also written to the Judicial Services Commission on the same note. My opinion is the same regarding her advice. My stand still remains, I do not believe that Fahmy can be reinstated to follow the Supreme Court ruling,” Attorney General Bisam told the committee.
Mohamed Fahmy Hassan sat at a JSC meeting where the Commission recently decided to suspend Chief Judge of High Court Ahmed Shareef.
Attorney General Aishath Bisam told the parliament committee last night that she does not believe that Fahmy can sit in the JSC meeting and that the meeting is invalid as it was participated by a person with no legal authority.
