IMDC in collaboration with Manipal Hospital to conduct heart disease camp in Addu City

A four-day camp focused on treatment for heart disease and increasing awareness on heart disease will commence tomorrow in Addu City. The camp is conducted by International Medical and Diagnostic Centre (IMDC) in collaboration with India’s Manipal Hospital.

Speaking at a seminar held at Nasandhura Palace Hotel to provide information to doctors and senior officials of hospitals in Maldives today, Manipal Hospital’s Head of Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Dr Devananda said that the purpose of his visit to the Maldives in collaboration with IMDC is to provide information on heart disease. He highlighted that this is an area in which patients in Maldives have great difficulty obtaining treatment.

Human Resource Manager of Simdi Group of which IMDC is a subsidiary, Ahmed Irash said that 100 people have already made appointments with Dr Devananda, who will see patients at the IMDC clinic located in Hithadhoo, Addu City, from tomorrow until Saturday.

Dr Devananda said that Manipal Hospital wants to collaborate with IMDC to facilitate treatment in Maldives in areas in which treatment is not currently possible in the country. He said that priority will be given to heart disease, cancer and thalassaemia.

Manipal is the third largest hospital group in India, and Dr Devananda is one of the most popular cardiologists in India.
