Member of Parliament for Feydhoo Constituency Alhan Fahmy has yet again signed for the main opposition, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
MP Alhan confirmed his move and told Sun that he has signed for MDP today. He has also published a tweet saying that he has signed for MDP.
MP Alhan was elected to parliament on a Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) ticket for Feydhoo constituency in 2009, but was dismissed from the party for voting against the their whip line.
He then joined MDP, who then held government. He was elected Vice President of MDP after competing with one of the party’s leading activists and former Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam. He was dismissed from the Vice President post following a vote from the party’s national council, under accusations that he had made public statements that contradicted the party’s beliefs. Following his dismissal, Alhan staged protests against former President Nasheed, calling to reform MDP. He soon left the party and joined Jumhoory Party (JP). MP Alhan Fahmy left JP after the party's council received a case against him.
He has not made any additional public statement regarding his signing to MDP.
