Man suffers serious injuries in Link Road accident

A man has suffered serious injuries including nine broken ribs in an accident where two motorcycles collided on Link Road, Hithadhoo, Addu City, this evening.

The injured man is Shangri La Resort employee, Hassan Ahmed (Hassan Manika), 58, of Pretty Villa, Hithadhoo.

He is currently being treated in Hithadhoo Hospital.

Public Relations Coordinator of Hithadhoo Hospital Ali Moosa said that Hassan Ahmed is bleeding from the head and ears, and has six broken ribs on the right side and three on the left side of his body. He had also broken his ankle and crushed his ring finger.

“He’s in critical condition, he’s being treated in the ICU,” said Ali Moosa.

Ali Moosa further said that preparations are under way to send the victim to Male’ for further treatment, and that he will be sent to Male’ tonight.

Ali Moosa said that the person on the other motorcycle did not suffer any serious injuries.

The accident took place at 17:23 today. The police are investigating the matter.
