Judge Abdul Raoof assigned temporary charge of High Court

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has assigned temporary administration of the High Court to Judge Abdul Raoof Ibrahim.

Judge Abdul Raoof was put in-charge after the Judicial Service Commission indefinitely suspended High Court's Chief Judge Ahmed Shareef yesterday.

Judge Ahmed Shareef was suspended with a three member majority vote of the four members who sat at the JSC meeting yesterday, following complaints submitted to the Commission by a number of judges from the High Court.

However, the Commission has not revealed the exact reasons for the judge’s suspension.

JSC stated that Judge Ahmed Shareef was suspended due to complaints filed to the Commission regarding his management of High Court. The Commission has summoned and obtained statements from Judge Ahmed Shareef, other judges from the High Court and certain members of the court’s administrative staff in relation to the case.
