MP Shareef joins President Waheed

Thimarafushi MP Ahmed Shareef, a member of the Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) Parliamentary Group has joined Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik’s Gaumee Ithihad Party (GIP).

MP Shareef publicly announced his move to GIP by participating in a GIP event held in the party’s campaign post last night. Shareef also spoke during the event and detailed his reasons for joining GIP.

Abbas Adil Riza, Spokesperson for GIP said today that MP Shareef has officially joined the party and that the party will hold a special event on the 8th of next month to celebrate and welcome Shareef to the party.

PPM received official recognition in parliament after Shareef won the Thimarafushi by-election early last year.

Shareef left PPM after accusing that a senior member of PPM is deliberately forcing President Dr. Waheed’s hand to delay the Thimarafushi airport development project.
