Criminal Court has added 15 days to the detention of Corporal Azlif Raoof, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) officer who is believed to be one of the key conspirators in the murder of former Ungoofaaru MP Dr. Afrasheem Ali.
Azlif Raoof, H. Hilton, Male', was taken into custody after one of the primary suspects on trial for Dr. Afrasheem Ali's murder Hussain Humaam Ahmed, H. Lobby, Male', confessed to the court that Azlif was one of the key conspirators for the murder.
Police said that Azlif Raoof’s detention period was extended after he was brought before the court by the authorities last night asking for an extension. Police have not yet stated why Azlif has been arrested.
However, they have accused Azif of terrorism, inciting fear, leading and carrying out gang activities and conducting criminal activities through gangs.
During the Dr. Afrasheem murder trial, Hussain Humaam had accused Azlif Raoof of being one of the key conspirators for the murder and said that he is known to manipulated youngsters into criminal activities.
