Nine arrested for attacking Police and damaging property

Following yesterday’s protest in Male’, five people have been arrested for attacking the Police and four people for damaging Police property.

A Police Media Official said sharp weapons were used to attack the Police.

He said that damage was caused to various Police institutions in Male’; he did not give details on the damaged property.

He further said that 69 people were arrested yesterday, all of whom have been released with the exception of one.

MDP began demonstrations yesterday afternoon, causing serious damage to Police Stations in Male’ and other islands. Police in islands sustained several injuries, with some of them forced to stop working.
