Two youths have been injured in an assault in Gaafu Alifu Kanduhulhudhoo.
Councillor Rifau Rasheed told Sun Online that the incident took place at around 15:00 today between two relatives, an 18-year- old person with special needs and a minor (below 18).
Rifau said that both youths had suffered injuries inflicted by a sharp object, including a 2-inch injury on the arm of the minor, and an 8-inch injury on the back of the person with special needs.
“We don’t know what happened. Both youths have been injured and taken to the Health Centre,” he said.
Sun understands that the victims are cousins, and the father of one of them is an island councillor.
Rifau said that the incident had been reported to the police and a police team will arrive in the island shortly.
It has not yet been possible to get a comment of the police regarding this incident.
