Court gives 15 days of detention for suspects arrested for group violence

The court has granted detention periods of 15 days for the suspects arrested for group violence in Male’ on Friday night.

The suspects are Mohamed Kinaanath Ahmed, 28, of H. Lobby, who is the elder brother of Hussain Humaam Ahmed currently under arrest on suspicion of killing Dr Afrasheem Ali; Ahmed Shirhan Shameem, 21, of Zaheeramanzil of Meemu Kolhufushi; and Assad Ibrahim Rasheed, 18, of Male’ Dhaftharu.

The police said that they are searching for additional suspects related to this crime, but no new arrests have been made so far.

The three people were arrested on suspicion of attacking Mohamed Shaifan, of Male’ Municipality Khaassa Dhaftharu 3912, last Friday night. Mohamed Shaifan was one of the suspects acquitted by Criminal Court after being tried for the murder of Ali Shifan of M. Fairy Corner.

The police said that Shaifan was attacked on 17 May near Maziya Trade on Majeedee Magu, by a group on motorcycles.
