Police arrests group of foreigners caught gambling in Hithadhoo

Police have arrested a group of foreigners caught while gambling in a house in Hithadhoo, Addu City.

Nine foreigners were arrested around 01:50 late Friday night, during a special operation that was conducted in island, police said.

They said that one of the people have now been released and that seven out of the nine men arrested are undocumented workers.

All nine men arrested are Bangladeshi citizens.

Police said that inspection of the house had produced some MVR 2,500 including some of the materials used for gambling.

A group of twenty one foreigners were arrested while gambling in a house in Male’, earlier this year. Five Bangladeshi citizen were also arrested along with large quantities of money while gambling in Alif Alif Rasdhoo in 2012.
