Maldives Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has said that discussions are ongoing with a company in Singapore to appoint a celebrity ambassador to promote tourism and attract more celebrities to the country.
Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Tourism Mohamed Maleeh told Sun Online today that they are currently having discussions with a company in Singapore who has so far presented a number of propositions to the Tourism Ministry. Maleeh said that they are currently discussing on hiring the company.
“We are currently holding discussions, the most suitable celebrities for Maldives and the prices they offer, we are discussing such things now,” Maleeh said.
The Deputy Minister said that the government will soon hire a company for the task and that it will have tremendous benefits for Maldives tourism.
He also said that there are number of celebrities interested in spending their holidays in the Maldives and that notable Hollywood stars and sports celebrities have visited Maldives during the past year.
Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb said Maldives already undertake efforts through public relations firms to attract celebrities to spend their vacation in the country and that a number of celebrities have visited the Maldives as a result of this initiative. He said that celebrities visiting the Maldives will promote and pave way for further development of the Maldives tourism.
