Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has revealed the two men who were stabbed near AMDC yesterday are in critical condition and that one of them is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Two men of ages 18 and 21 were stabbed during an assault that broke out in Maafannu yesterday evening.
Zeenath Ali Habeeb, Media Official at IGMH said that both men had injuries to their backs and chest, while one also had a wound on his throat. Zeenath said that one of them had received severe injuries to his lungs.
She said that doctors say that both men are in critical condition and that both had lost a lot of blood by the time the hospital received them.
Zeenath said that both men have undergone surgery and that even though one of them are being kept in the ward, he too needs to be treated in the ICU.
“They are both unstable. That's the reason doctors have not made a recommendation, whether to send them abroad,” Zeenath said.
Police said that they not yet made any arrests regarding the incident, or the two other stabbings that took place in Male’ the day before yesterday.
A witness to yesterday’s assault said that two groups started fighting and that one man, who got badly injured with blood dripping from his body, had run into a house named M. Janthari Hulhuangubai. Attending the scene short after the incident, Sun reporters observed blood on the stairs in the house mentioned by the witness.
