The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has summoned Chief Judge of High Court Ahmed Shareef Ali.
A JSC member told Sun Online that Ahmed Shareef was summoned in relation to a case filed to the commission by the seven judges of the court against the chief judge, a year ago.
“We summoned the chief judge in relation to a case filed to the commission by the seven judges of the court against the chief judge one year ago. The chief judge had also filed a case to JSC about one year ago. So we summoned him for questioning,” he said.
He said that the case filed against the chief judge by the seven judges of High Court was regarding the poor management of the administration issues of the court.
The judges had complained that the chief judge had made administrative decisions without consulting them, and also noted the lack of proper regulations on court procedures.
The JSC member said that the chief judge requested for an additional opportunity to present his response to the claims, and had consequently been granted one week to do so.
He said that the chief judge had said that he could not respond yesterday because he had not psychologically prepared to respond to the case.
The JSC member said that he did not support proceeding with the case, and that the meeting to which the chief judge of High Court was summoned was attended by three JSC members.
