MDP spent MVR 15 million on political activities: Audit Report

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has said that it spent MVR 15.95 million on political activities in 2012.

MDP said in its 2012 audit report published today that it received MVR 15.30 million in 2012.

In 2011, the party spent MVR 13.68 million.

MDP further said in the audit report that last year, it received MVR 3.75 million from the state budget and MVR 11.21 million through other means, which includes donations by party members.

The Elections Commission has said that audit reports for 2012 have been submitted by nine parties.
