Police have commenced a special security operation in Male’, to end the current unrest and gang violence.
Police Media Official Sub-inspector Ahmed Shiyam said today that the operation commenced last night, and no arrests have been made so far. He said steps will be taken against anyone who encourages unrest.
Police are also maintaining vigilance in other islands, and have commenced special operations in some of them.
New people were appointed to key positions within the Police yesterday.
The special operation against gang violence begins at a time when the former government had released about 400 prisoners for a ‘second chance’.
