Leaders of three parties who have come together in coalition with President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik is scheduled to meet with the President today.
Legal Advisor at the President’s Office Ahmed Thaufeeq told Sun that President Waheed's Gaumee Ithihad Party (GIP), Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Gaumee Party and Adhaalath Party are scheduled to meet today. He however said that the location for the meeting has not yet been confirmed.
“This meeting is part of the meetings held for the coalition members to meet and exchange ideas. This is not an extraordinary meeting, so it will proceed including members of the party's councils,” Thaufeeq said.
Sun Online has come to know that the meeting will take place sometime this evening at Nasandhura Palace Hotel.
Regarding reports circulating in the social media that President Waheed's running mate for the upcoming presidential election has already been decided, Thaufeeq said that the party leaders are discussing the matter, although talks have not yet progressed to produce such an announcement.
