Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has decided to conduct an extraordinary meeting in Addu City following the dismissal of Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed from his post as Minister of Home Affairs.
PPM announced moments ago that the meeting will be held at 10:00 am tomorrow morning.
Dr. Jameel was dismissed from his post as the Minister of Home Affairs for accepting to be the running mate for PPM's presidential candidate.
Led by former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, the Progressive Party of Maldives is part of the current government coalition.
There are 20 Members of Parliament representing PPM, alongside 12 MPs from the other coalition partner, Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP).
The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) hold 32 seats in parliament, from a total of 77 MPs.
There are three minister representing PPM in the current cabinet, namely Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdul Samad Abdulla, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Gafoor, Minister of Human Resources, Youth and Sports Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
