Hajj pilgrims advised to make payment in Maldivian Rufiyaa

The Islamic Ministry has advised people to use Maldivian Rufiyaa when making the payment to go for hajj.

This was announced by the ministry in a statement issued today.

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed told Sun Online today that complaints had been received of some companies demanding the payment in US Dollars.

The ministry said in the statement that the amount that can be collected per pilgrim is MVR 67,000 and stressed that this must be done in accordance with the Maldives’ policy on taking people to Hajj.
