Dr. Afrasheem murder case:
The public will get answers once the trial is properly underway: Home Min. Jameel

Minister of Home Affairs Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that the public will get their answers regarding the murder of former MP and religious scholar Dr. Afrasheem Ali, once the trials for his murder case is properly underway.

Recent rallies by the National Movement have called for the authorities to reveal the people behind the murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

In an interview to Sun, Home Minister Jameel said that the people who committed the murder have now been apprehended and that their trials have also begun. He believes that it is a great progress regarding the particular case, he said, and that a delicate matter such as this should not be politicized.

“I do not believe that anyone should politicize this sort of matter. The murder of a Member of Parliament, a political figure and a religious scholar, there will be people behind it. This is what we said in the beginning. The evidence reveals this too. The public will get answers for their questions once the trial properly unfolds,” Jameel said.

State has raised murder charges against Hussain Humaam Ahmed of H. Lobby and Ali Shaan of H. Hicoast for the murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali, who was discovered brutally murdered at the base of the stairwell inside his residence, H. Funvilu. Both person have denied their charges in court. A person below legal age has also been indicted in relation to the murder. State is charging the minor with providing false statements to the State.
