State allowed to present evidence against Shaan accused of murdering Dr. Afrasheem

Criminal Court has allowed the State to present evidence against Ali Shaan of H. Hicoast, who has been accused of being involved in the murder of former Ungoofaaru MP Dr. Afrasheem Ali.

At today’s Criminal Court hearing, the State prosecutor said that the State wants to present the evidence in writing.

The judge allowed the State’s request.

When the Shaan was allowed to answer for his charges, the attorney representing Shaan said that he would not be able to answer to the charges before he receives the evidence and witness statements collected by the police during the investigation.

The Judge said that the evidence was withheld by the court on request of the State prosecutor and that the court shall allow the evidence to the defence.

Shaan is being charged with murder, for allegations that he went to H. Funvilu with a group of others and killed Dr. Afrasheem Ali using a sharp object on the night of 1 October between 11:30 pm and 2:00 am.

The State has also charged Hussain Humaam of H. Lobby for the murder of former MP. Humaam has denied the charges and appointed a lawyer with the State’s assistance.

The minor who kept guard outside Funvilu while the murder was committed has been charged with providing false statements. He has confessed to the crime.
