High Court ruling against Hajj group companies appealed in Supreme Court

The case of four Hajj group companies’ proposals, which the Civil Court had ordered for the Islamic Ministry to evaluate, has been appealed to the Supreme Court after the High Court's overrule of the Civil Court sentence.

Local law firm Suood Anwar and Co. appealed the case on behalf of the four companies; Al Manaasik Pvt Ltd, Al Fat’h Hajj and Umra Group Pvt Ltd, Al Safaa Pvt Ltd and Classic Hajj and Umra Pvt Ltd.

Speaking to Sun, a senior partner of the firm and former Attorney General, Husnu Al Suood said that they have asked the Supreme Court to overrule the Supreme Court ruling, and to order the Islamic Ministry to evaluate the Hajj group proposals that were rejected.

Suood said that the Supreme Court has now accepted their appeal, but said that he does not know when the hearings will begin.

Islamic Ministry had argued in court that the proposals were not evaluated because they were not submitted in accordance with Article 21 of the relevant regulation, which states that the proposal shall only be accepted if delivered by a person that has, on his person, his identification card and the company’s documents.

The High Court bench that presided over the Hajj group proposal appeal voted 2 against the Civil Court ruling and 1 in favour. The judges who voted against the ruling stated that party's whose actions are contrary to the procedures might be deem liable facilitating corruption.
