A ‘Maldivian’ aircraft ready to depart from Gan in Addu City bound for Male’ has been evacuated due to a problem with its engine.
Head of Administration of Island Aviation, Ali Nashath told Sun Online today that the flight scheduled for 12:45 pm today from Gan to Male’ had to be evacuated due to a technical problem.
He said that the plane was evacuated as soon as the problem was discovered.
“The captain noted that there was a problem, and the plane was evacuated. This happened due to a small technical problem with the right engine. Work is ongoing to fix the problem. This is common; planes are evacuated even if there is a slight problem. No one was hurt,” he said.
He said that efforts are under way to arrange for the passengers to travel to Male, and that they should be able to travel tonight.
